Kids Camp

Wilderness Trails offers five-day riding camps for local kids aged 3-17. The day camp includes round-trip transportation, lunch, horseback riding and a variety of other activities and games.

Beyond horseback riding, campers will have use of our heated outdoor swimming pool, mountain bikes, guided hiking, geo-caching, arts, crafts, music, awesome tree house and trout fishing ponds and more! The week culminates in a Kids Rodeo and Gymkhana on Friday afternoon, which parents are invited to attend. Come a bit early for a lunch! Parents are strongly encouraged to come on Friday for the rodeo. The children really love showing off their their new horsemanship skills.  

Campers are fully supervised and split into individual groups by age and experience. Our counselors are specifically trained and ranch certificated for teaching safe horsemanship to kids. All of our kids wranglers have had background checks and are First Aid and CPR certified.

2013 Kids Camp Dates & Rates

The 2013 Kids Camp dates are:
  • June 10 - 14
  • June 17 - 21
  • June 24 - 28
  • July 1 - 5
  • July 8 - 12
  • July 22 - 26
  • July 29 - August 2
  • August 5 - 9
  • August 12 - 16
  • August 19 - 23
The 2013 Kids Camp rates are:
  • Payment in Full: $500 per week including transportation and lunch
  • Deposit 50%: $550 per week including transportation and lunch, 50% deposit upon booking, 50% due 14 days before Camp
  • Per Day: $125/day, for Camp less than 5 days, including transportation and lunch
  • Campers will be picked up each day from the Chapman Hill parking lot at 8am and dropped off at 5:30pm.
Alternate pickup/drop off locations and times are:
  • Edgemont Ranch, Silver Queen entrance
  • Intersection of County Road 240/501 intersection (8:30/4:30)
  • Rocky Mountain General Store (8:45/4:15)
  • Elk Point Lodge (8:55/4:05)
Campers will only be released to the Parent/Grandparent/Main Contacts and/or Authorized Persons listed on this form.  Due to limited availability of reservations, Kids Camp payments are non-refundable unless we can book another Camper for the same week. Payments may be used towards a reservation in a different week.  Please let us know as soon as possible if you believe there may be a change or cancellation of your reservation.
Campers should wear/bring:
  • Jeans
  • Long-sleeve shirt, layered over short-sleeve or tank top
  • Light jacket or shell 
  • Shorts (bring for afternoons after the pool and the Lake Day)
  • Riding/Cowboy boots with a smooth sole and a heel for safety - we do not allow Campers to wear any type of lug or hiking boots.  If the Camper does not have their own pair of appropriate boots, we have boots for rent in our Trading Post for $25 per week.  
  • Cowboy/Western Hat OR if you prefer, a helmet, well-fitted horseback riding helmet (or some parents just use a ski or bike helmet).  We DO NOT have helmets to rent/share.  
  • Sneakers
  • Extra pair of socks
  • Swimsuit
  • Life Jacket/PFD if you have one - we DO have life jackets to share
  • Sunscreen
  • Sun/Ball Cap
  • Towel
  • Waterbottle or Camelback
  • Extra Snacks - we provide lunch but if the Camper needs any special supplements during the day, please feel free to pack along provisions.
The Kids Rodeo will start around 2pm on Friday and we welcome you and your family to join us for lunch at 12:30pm.  Please let us know by Thursday if you (and family and/or friends) would like to join us for lunch before the rodeo at 12:30pm.  Adults are $12.50 and kids under 12 are $8.50.
